iTunes keeps rolling

According to Reuters, Apple’s market share for MP3 players is about 50 percent, and the iTunes music store accounts for 70 percent of online music stores sales.

The company just released iTunes version 4.5 and reported a new one-week sales record of 3.3 million songs. Among the changes, the new software

  • Increases the number of computers that can play purchased music from three to five
  • Allows people to share playlists, using iMix
  • Implements automatic WMA to AAC conversion, which should make life easier for Windows users transitioning to iTunes
  • Decreases the number of CDs that can be burned from purchased music from 10 to 7
