The Independent (UK) reports that the BBC is piloting Internet delivery of TV content to PDAs.
The three-week pilot, called iMP (Internet Media Player), will allow 500 of the corporation’s staff to step into this new world of viewing. They will be given PDAs and access to a range of BBC programmes…
The BBC will webcast programs from the prior week. BBC Radio has implemented a similar scheme for listeners who want to listen to a program, but not at its scheduled time. Because the webcasts are not real-time, it is unclear what impact the decision might make on Tivo/Replay enabled households.
