Opera targets mobile market

Opera Software is tying TV and cellphone technologies with its Mobile Interactive Programming Guide (mobileIPG). The guide allows a customer to use a cellphone to record a TV program, assuming an internet-enabled Personal Video Recorder (PVR).

The technology is a joint effort with two German companies: DiscVision GmbH and TVinfo Internet GmbH.

The firms attribute open standards (HTML, CSS2, DOM, Javascript) to the guide’s success and rapid development.
