Facebook has made it relatively easy to “hide” application announcements — to keep them from cluttering your news feed. As others have pointed out, “hide” is not “block.” So, for any of you who haven’t yet blocked an application, here’s how. (It is more involved than “hiding” an application.)
If you want to see only status updates from your friends — no photo uploads, pages friended and the like — here’s what you need to do:

The NYT ran an article this week explaining how to manage your Facebook News feed. The author wrote:
Just move the mouse cursor to the end of the first line from an update from say, Mafia Wars, and click the Hide button that appears.

ComTweets (@comtweets) is a (free) service that organizes a Twitter community around a common email address, like Facebook organizes networks. The stated goal is to facilitate “easy discovery and communications between coworkers.” This is not unlike Yammer‘s goal, but Yammer’s conversations are viewable only by people in the network (common email addresses). Of course, this means adding yet another social networking account to your plate.
