UW Undertakes Twitter Demographic, Use Survey

Posted: 12 May 2009 by Kathy E. Gill in Twitter

Through Friday 22 May, the University of Washington’s MCDM is conducting an online survey of Twitter use.

Twitter is hot, but what do we know about the people who tweet?

Researchers at the University of Washington are asking Twitter users to participate in the first in a series of demographic surveys designed to provide a unique store of up-to-date information on the growth and trends in the use of Twitter and other micro-blogging services. The series value lies in its independent, objective view of developing Twitter demographics, culture, attitudes, and usage patterns.

The UW Twitter survey is accessible at http://tr.im/UWSurvey

Participant details are anonymous; however, participants may enter a drawing for Amazon gift certificates after completing the survey.

The current survey runs through 22 May 2009. A second survey will be conducted in six months and, like the original, it will be accessible for a month.
