Google: vlogging Test Announced

Google has announced it will host individual video clips in the next few days, an entry into the video blogging content category. The announcement follows the January test of Google Video, a search feature that "allows users to see still images from [TV] video clips" as well as any  associated closed-captioning. Competitor Yahoo! had previously announced partnerships with "Survivor" creator Mark Burnett and JibJab Media, which became a household name in political circles during the 2004 presidential election.

Giving “Rabble Rousing” a New Meaning

“Rabble” — an application designed to streamline blog post publishing from a cellular phone — is expected to launch this month. The software utlizes location-based information, which is currently only available from Nextel and Cingular. Imagine going on a trip — taking a stunning sunset picture and then easily posting the image and commentary to your blog: all by pushing buttons on your cellphone. Microsoft Facilitates Time-Shifting

Microsoft has announced “MSN Video Downloads,” a $20/year service that will allow subscribers to download selected TV shows from website links to portable devices. Although this is a form of time-shifting, as The Motley Fool notes, video requires more concentration than audio — questioning whether consumers will race to portable video like they have to the iPod.
